Overview

The 12G-AMA is a 4-channel analog audio embedder/disembedder Mini-Converter with support for 12G-SDI input and output up to 4K/UltraHD. Fiber models offer single link fiber I/O including LC and  ST options.

Audio disembedding is always functional, providing four analog outputs. Audio embedding is user selectable, on a channel pair basis, to either pass 12G-SDI input audio or to embed input analog audio from the breakout cable.

Analog audio levels are selectable. The 12G-AMA automatically detects and configures the input video standard.

12G-AMA Workflow

The 12G-AMA in this workflow diagram is receiving 4K video and embedded audio via 12G-SDI. At the same time, the 12G-AMA is disembedding analog audio to the analog audio I/O for mixing.

The output of the mixer is then embedded into the SDI stream being output via the 12G-SDI port of the 12G-AMA. This 12G-SDI output is fed directly to a Ki Pro Ultra 12G to record the original 4K video with the newly embedded, mixed audio.

Supplied Breakout Cable

The included breakout cable supports 1-channel of analog audio per XLR connector for 4-Channels of input and 4-channels of ouput simultaneously.

USB and Mini-Config Support

AJA’s free Mini-Config software can be used with any USB enabled AJA Mini-Converter and provides an easy to use graphical interface with detailed information about the current input and output formats. Control all the parameters of any supported AJA Mini-Converter as well as loading firmware updates from AJA that add new features and functionality.

Universal Power Supply

All AJA Mini-Converters ship with a universal power supply that includes international plug connections for use around the world.

Compact and Portable

AJA Mini-Converters are small enough to fit behind a monitor, in the back of a rack, or directly on a camera rig. A locking power connector can’t accidentally pull loose and an optional P-TAP power cable allows for battery power in remote locations.

Video Path Delay

Video Out is a delayed, reclocked version of Video In, at the same frame rate, etc. Video Out is undefined when no input.

  • Video Latency, time measured between video input and video output connector:
    • 12G = 3.2 µsec

    • 3G level B (Dual Stream HD mode) = 6.3 µsec
