Description
AJA Compact 16×16 12G-SDI Router
Routers
Overview
KUMO 1616-12G offers increased capacity for larger configurations while maintaining a compact 1RU profile with support for 12G-SDI/6G-SDI/3G-SDI/1.5G-SDI with 16x 12G-SDI inputs and 16x 12G-SDI outputs.
KUMO 12G-SDI routers support large format resolutions, high frame rate (HFR) and deep color formats, while reducing cable runs when transporting 4K/UltraHD over SDI. The routers offer network-based and/or physical control, and mirror the physical form of AJA’s production-proven KUMO 3232 and KUMO 1616 routers, with a new USB port for configuring IP addresses via AJA’s eMini-Setup software. Built to the same quality standards as all AJA KUMO products, KUMO 1616-12G is the ideal choice for any situation where a balance of size and capacity are critical such as mid-sized post facilities and mobile trucks.
Features
- 16x 12G-SDI inputs and outputs
- Small, portable form factor
- Single cable support for 4K/UltraHD
- Redundant power supply option
- Eight salvos per router
- Embedded web server for remote control
- USB port to easily configure the router IP address
Compact Routing
KUMO compact SDI routers provide powerful signal control and support full broadcast specifications over 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI, with quality that exceeds SMPTE specifications. The super-compact 1RU and 2RU and 4RU formats are just a few inches deep, making them a perfect fit for any broadcast, production, or postproduction environment, from mobile sports trucks and edit suites, through to corporate video installations or live theatrical A/V rigs.
KUMOSDI routers are available in seven configurations: Three for 12G/6G/3G/1.5G-SDI and four for 3G/1.5G-SDI routing needs.
For 12G-SDI, look to KUMO 6464-12G for 64x 12G-SDIinputs and outputs, KUMO 3232-12Gfor 32x 12G-SDIinputs and outputs or KUMO 1616-12G for 16x 12G-SDIinputs and outputs.
For 3G-SDI look to KUMO 6464for 64x 3G-SDI inputs and outputs, KUMO 3232for 32x 3G-SDI inputs and outputs, KUMO 1616for 16x 3G-SDI inputs and outputs and KUMO 1604for 16x 3G-SDI inputs and 4x 3G-SDI outputs.
Powerful Signal Control
KUMO’s powerful cross-point routing matrix maps any input to any number of outputs without the need for additional patch panels or distribution amplifiers. Use KUMO as an affordable distribution amplifier by routing a single input to all outputs. Used in this way, a KUMO 1616-12G can take the place of multiple distribution amplifiers.
As 8K emerges and 4K/UltraHD workflows continue to gain ground, KUMO routers can meet the rising challenge. KUMO 12G-SDI routers offer single-link cable simplicity for 4K/UltraHD and with a simple setting change, KUMO 12G-SDI routers can be configured for ganged dual-link or quad-link grouping allowing users to group together multiple inputs and outputs for 8K workflows and similarly, KUMO 3G-SDI routers for dual or quad-link 4K/UltraHD workflows. This allows routing of raw or 8K or 4K/UltraHD signals throughout a production, live event, OB truck or post facility.
Salvo Simplicity
New salvos support simplifies switching operations by recalling multiple sources to specific destinations. Salvos are stored in a KUMO router and can be recalled via the KUMO router’s Web UI, GVG Native Protocol over Ethernet, RS-232, and/or the AJA KUMO CP2 Salvos buttons.
Eight Salvos can be configured and stored in each KUMO router. Salvos allow the operator to quickly recall predefined sources to specific destinations configurations with a simple button press.
Broadcast Standard Reliability
Designed for critical broadcast, production and post environments, KUMO routers are built to AJA standards that exceed SMPTE specifications. The use of premium components coupled with dual redundant power supplies ensures the highest signal quality and maximum uptime even in the unexpected event of a power supply failure.
Simple Installation and Configuration
Running Embedded Linux, KUMO routers are network ready and support powerful HTTP control and monitoring via a web browser – without the need for any additional software.
KUMO’s USB port connection allows easy IP configuration using free AJA eMini-Setup software. Alternatively, standard network configuration allows access to each KUMO via its default IP address. Once connected to KUMO using a web browser, you can configure the full TCP/IP settings, select and name KUMO routers, name sources and destinations, and perform all operational functions.
KUMO routers are easily integrated with existing infrastructure utilizing the industry-standard Grass Valley Native Protocol over RS-422 or even Ethernet. Ethernet network connectivity also allows you to control all KUMO routers from any web browser on a network-connected device, ensuring you have the control you need from any location.
KUMO CP2 and KUMO CP
KUMO CP2 and KUMO CP are optional control panels that can be used in standalone or networked configurations.
Connecting via Ethernet to the same network as the KUMO routers, KUMO CP and KUMO CP2 enable full control from any location without the need for a computer. Up to four KUMO routers can be controlled from a single control panel.
KUMO CP2 offers direct access to all 32 inputs and 32 outputs for the KUMO range up through the KUMO 3232-12G, and with a simple click of the shift key, addresses all 64 sources and destinations for the KUMO 6464.
Affordable
Whether you’re building a mobile truck, edit suites or an AV flypack, get the routing capabilities you need at a price that fits well within your budget. KUMO routers are so affordable they can even be used in place of traditional DAs to distribute signals to multiple locations. KUMO routers provide an incredible price/performance ratio while still maintaining the highest quality standards.
